About the role:
The Organic Prep Supervisor is responsible for the overall operation of the Middletown Laboratory to meet company goals ensuring client satisfaction, TAT, Quality, Safety and staff engagement.
Responsibilities:
About you:
Day to day coordination of team personnel and resources to maximize production of organic prep, leachates, Oil & Grease, Flashpoint, Ignitibility, size reduction, waste characterization, ISM, puck milling, sieving, and other techniques ;
Coordinate and manage projects, method development and implementation;
Must be familiar with all laboratory instrumentation, methods, regulations and client applications of data;
Coordinate and manage projects as assigned which includes but it is not limited to method development, testing/scope expansion, new equipment instillation, validation/verification;
Ensure the quality of the analytical data meets ALS standards;
Ensure the laboratory has the required equipment, supplies and personnel to function at an optimal level;
Ensure that service requirements are met on an ongoing basis (i.e. TAT's, QA/QC)
Assistance troubleshooting and maintenance of instrumentation
Maintain and adhere to strict QA/QC program; ensure analysts understand and follow
Write and approve SOPs;
Ensure Re-Checks and Corrective Actions are completed appropriately and in a timely fashion, and that the necessary follow-through is established;
Write job descriptions for staff;
Conduct performance reviews of section staff;
Assist with interviewing and hiring of lab staff;
Ensure quality training, supervision and scheduling of lab staff;
Assist with Client Support as necessary;
Assist with preparation of quotes;
Assist laboratory manager with budget planning and implementation;
Ensure all work areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner, that health and safety policies are followed;
Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
BSc or technical diploma in Chemistry or related field from recognized university or college;
Experience in an environmental laboratory, preferably in Organic chemistry analysis.
Physical Demands:
The ability to speak and hear clearly while communicating with staff, management, and clients.
Ability to sit and/or stand for 100% of an 8-hour day.
Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate computer, syringes, and other equipment.
