Job description

Process Development Scientist

Our client is looking to add a Process Chemist to their team in Mill Hall:

Lab Scale-Up

Review new product procedures and create lab batches for comparison with R&D samples, coordinating with chemists as needed.

Sample lab batches for QC testing and compile data for decision-making on scale-up.

Distribute various samples as required.

Pilot Supervision

Support PD Manager in overseeing pilot batches, addressing QC and operator questions.

Handle tasks in PD Manager's absence, including decision-making and process queries.

Process Improvement

Develop new production methods for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and environmental considerations.

Process Troubleshooting

Collaborate with PD Manager to resolve production issues, often requiring lab batch trials.

New Product Introduction & Technology Support

Oversee initial scale-up batches and support new technologies by comparing manufacturing methods.

Assist QC in developing testing methods on new lab equipment.

Regulatory Compliance

Ensure understanding of guidelines (PS9100, REACH, IPCC) and product compliance with legal standards.

Qualifications

Education & Training

BS in Chemistry or related field, with coursework in Organic Chemistry, Statistics, Math, and Computers. Additional science classes preferred.

Knowledge & Experience

3+ years in chemical manufacturing/lab, with familiarity in lab equipment and quality analysis. Basic knowledge of plant engineering and site processes is helpful.

Skills

Proficiency in English communication, Microsoft Office, and SAP (or equivalent systems).
