Job description
The Jefferson College of Population Health is recruiting a faculty member at the Assistant or Associate level who can teach graduate-level courses in epidemiology and public health; provide research mentoring to masters and doctoral students, and lead and collaborate on externally funded research projects. Although all research backgrounds will be considered, candidates with research expertise in health equity and/or global health are particularly encouraged to apply. The position is full-time and based on the Center City campus in Philadelphia, PA. The ideal candidate will be a strong researcher, student-centered, an excellent teacher, and have a record of peer-reviewed publications and external funding, as appropriate to their rank and experience.
Primary Job Duties:
The Assistant/Associate Professor will work with other faculty, College leadership, staff, students, and alumni to strengthen the College s academic programs through excellence in teaching, research, and service, and be an active citizen of the College and University. Specific job duties include:
• Developing, revising, and teaching courses in epidemiology, public health, and health policy;
Mentor students in quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods research projects
• Participating on assigned College and University committees, including the Public Health Team
Teaching Committee;
• Giving career advice and academic mentorship and advising to students;
• Representing the College at community activities and recruiting events;
• Leading externally funded research;
• Publishing and presenting research in peer-reviewed scholarly journals and scientific venues;
• Providing service to the profession and community; and
• Other duties, as assigned.
• Being student-centered, collegial, and collaborative.
• Experience teaching epidemiology, global health, and public health courses at the graduate level.
• Excellent student and peer evaluations of teaching.
• Track record of external funding and scholarship commensurate with rank.
• Ability and desire to mentor and advise student researchers at the masters and doctoral levels.
• Strong research training and a terminal degree in a related field (i.e., PhD, DrPH, MD, DO, etc.).
