Position: Early Childhood Education Teacher's Assistant
Location: The Salvation Army Kroc Center (SAKC), Philadelphia, PA
Availability: Immediate (5 positions available)
Schedule: 1 Full time and 8 Part time Plus (up to 29 hours per week); Openers - 7:00 AM and Closers - 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Reporting Relationship: ECEC Supervisor/ECEC Director
Salary Grade: $15.45 per hour; 74 Non-Exempt

Responsibilities:
The Early Childhood Education Center Teacher's Assistant (ECECTA) will provide extra assistance to plan, implement and assess the long term success of the ECEC children. The Teacher's Assistant will utilize the curriculum collaboratively as a foundation for lesson planning and assure there is healthy and safe environment for the children and families served. The Teacher's Assistant will engage in positive and professional parent/child/staff relationships. This position is required to will keep records and complete reports which ensure the standards of excellence are maintained. They will participate and maintain professional development and attend staff training. Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent; an Associate's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or comparable. At least 18 years of age. A minimum of one year on-the-job training in providing a nurturing indoor/outdoor environment meeting the child's out-of-home needs. One year (plus) of experience under qualified supervision working as a teacher serving the ages and developmental abilities of the children in care. Must possess a valid certificate in pediatric first aid, including CPR. Thorough knowledge of normal child development and early childhood education, as well as knowledge of indicators that a child is not developing typically. The ability to respond appropriately to children's needs in addition to the ability to recognize signs of illness and safety/ injury hazards and respond with prevention interventions. As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter. Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check. Must possess understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army and the RJKCCC. This position requires effective oral and written communication skills. Sound judgment and emotional maturity is requisite. Must have an appreciation for and be able to embrace the Mission of The Salvation Army.
