Job description
Responsibilities:
IAHCSMM Cert or CBSPD Cert required within 18 months of hire
Reporting to the Manager of Sterile Processing Dept, will be responsible to fulfill various ancillary functions such as cleaning hospital nursing units' equipment, instrumentation, and supplies following departmental, regulatory, procedural, and standards per policy. Performs a variety of duties to maintain patient care equipment, instrumentation, and supplies in a sanitary and orderly condition.

Department Overview: Sterile Processing Department
The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) is a critical component of our healthcare facility, dedicated to ensuring the safety, functionality, and availability of medical instruments and equipment essential for patient care across all departments.
Key Responsibilities of this department include Endoscope Reprocessing, the disassembly, thorough cleaning, detailed inspection, and precise reassembly of surgical instrument trays. Instrument sets are carefully sterilized and dispensed for use in the Operating Room, NICU, Emergency Department, and all ancillary departments according to all prescribed procedures and aseptic techniques, ensuring the highest standards of safety and effectiveness. Continuous education and training is provided to the SPD staff on the latest sterilization techniques, infection control protocols, and the proper handling of specialized medical instruments.
The Sterile Processing Department manages the collection, inspection, and distribution of patient care equipment throughout the hospital, ensuring that all equipment is sanitized, functional, and readily available to medical staff when needed. The department adheres to all hospital policies, regulations, and accreditation standards related to sterile processing and implements quality control measures to ensure the highest level of service.
