Our direct end-client a large healthcare insurance provider is seeking to hire a Senior Network Engineer for a contract-to-hire role to work in Philadelphia, PA 19103 (need locals only, Must be onsite Tues-Thurs.). W2 only.

Job Title: Senior Network Engineer - Cisco, Data Network

Duration: 6 months Contract-to-Hire W2 only

Pay rate: $60/HR-$65/HR on W2 (negotiable)

Shift - First-Shift with some on-call requirement

Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability and integrity of client's network infrastructure and services. This role involves assisting with planning, designing, and developing local area network (LAN), metro area network (MAN), and wide area network (WAN) across the organization. The engineer will participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software, and communication links. They will analyze and resolve complex network hardware and software issues in a timely and accurate manner using advanced troubleshooting methods, techniques, and tools, while applying strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolve systems issues.

Areas of Responsibility Include:

Managing LAN/MAN/WAN, Firewall (VPN), Load Balancing Technology, Wireless Networking, and Cloud Networking.

Documenting and maintaining advanced troubleshooting techniques and capacity planning methods (e.g., diagrams, technical specifications, operating manuals).

Providing research and recommendations for continuous process improvement, including evaluating vendor proposals in line with procurement policies and procedures.

Working on medium to large complexity projects as a project team member.

Performing the duties of the Sr. Network Engineer as required.

Qualifications - External

Qualifications:

Education: BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or equivalent.

Experience: 5+ years of Data Network experience preferred.

Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, Cisco Certified Network Associate, or equivalent hands-on and network design experience; F5-CSE.

Skills:

In-depth knowledge of Cisco Switching and Routing, F5 LTM/ASM, Network Security, and Network Management Systems.

Strong technical and project skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a team.

Strong time management, balancing daily workload alongside business and maintenance projects.

Ability to collaborate with Project Managers to ensure timely and successful project completion.

Problem-solving skills, with the ability to take a new perspective on existing solutions.

Excellent communication skills.

Team player and individual contributor, capable of working independently with minimal guidance.

Willingness to support off-hours operations, including On-Call.

Minimal travel required.

Strong Working Knowledge of the Following Technologies:

Installation, maintenance, and repair of network hardware and software.

LAN/WAN/wireless/VoIP hardware and software technologies, network infrastructure, design, topology, protocols, and operating procedures.

Cisco Nexus Switch Technology (VPC, NXOS & FEX).

Cisco Catalyst Switch Technology (VSS, IOS including Universal, Layer 2/3 technologies, Stackwise).

Cisco ISR and ASR Router Technology (IOS including Universal, Layer 3 technologies, routing protocols).

Routing Protocols (EIGRP, BGP, PBR, HSRP, VRRP, GLBP, OSPF).

Cisco NFG Firewall (VPN Client (IPSEC / SSL), LAN-to-LAN).

Cisco Wireless Technology (LWAPP & Autonomous), WCS and/or Prime Wireless LAN Management.

Application Load Balancer (LTM, ASM, iRules).

DNS/DHCP and IPAM Technology.

Other Technologies: Radius, TACACS, QoS, Packet Capturing and Analysis, Metro Ethernet and Dark Fiber services, Understanding of Copper & Fiber cabling.

Network Monitoring Tools.

Strong Network troubleshooting skills.

Bonus Skills:

Cloud Experience (Google, Azure, AWS).

Gigamon.

VoIP Knowledge.

Multicasting Knowledge.

Optical Network.
