Job Title: Regional Manager - Northeast Region, Cyber Risks

Division: Cyber Risks

Reports To: As per Beazley's organization chart

Key Relationships: Brokers, underwriters, claims staff, Beazley Security, underwriting management, business management, external clients and suppliers

Job Summary: To direct and manage the Northeast Region within the Cyber Risks

underwriting team. To assist with the delivery and execution of the annual business plan. To drive team underwriting cyber and E&O accounts within the Cyber Risks division and provide counsel and advice on underwriting related issues. Provide technical expertise in this business area and maintain and improve market reputation of the Beazley brand. To lead key broker relationships within the Northeast.

Key Responsibilities:

Underwriting

Direct and manage the Northeast region within the Cyber Risks team and deliver team responsibilities as delegated by the US Head of Cyber Risks.

Develop and underwrite a profitable portfolio of cyber and E&O business as part of the Cyber Risks team.

Structure tailor-made solutions by considering the team underwriting parameters and underwriting policy and using underwriting knowledge and experience to win new business and retain existing.

Monitor premiums, costs and claims ratios per contract and take corrective measures if necessary to ensure long term profitability at account level.

Evaluate appropriate risk premium by considering the risk costs, reinsurance cessions, capital exposure as well as the underwriting and general administration costs to ensure profitability, using rating models as applicable.

Utilize growth mindset to find positive, profitable solutions for broker challenges within the region

Monitor peer underwriters in their daily work to ensure profitability as well as efficient and cost effective administration of the Cyber Risks account.

Establish relationships with key leading brokers in the region to improve communication and drive success

Monitor and supervise assistants in their daily work to ensure compliance with underwriting philosophy and policy and consistency within the team and Cyber Risks.

Comply with the Group's minimum underwriting standards for business written through Lloyd's, Beazley Insurance Company Inc or Beazley's internal MGAs.

Develop a good working relationship with the claims managers on this class of business.

Team Leadership

Provide leadership and support for the Northeast Region of the US Cyber Risks underwriting team.

Manage and develop Assistant Regional Managers to improve leadership skills and maximize resources across the team

Contribute to the Leadership team of the overall US Cyber Risks team.

Act as a manager, mentor and coach to direct reports to enable them to fulfil their potential; ensure they are supported in contributing to the delivery and achievement of the overall team and business objectives

Ensure that own staff have terms of reference setting out their responsibilities and reporting lines.

Ensure that people are recruited, deployed and developed to anticipate and meet current and future needs.

Ensure that all employees have the knowledge and the skills necessary to perform effectively in their given roles and responsibilities.

Develop strong relationships with US leadership underwriting team, cyber claims leadership, Beazley Security leadership, and other important stakeholders within Cyber Risks.

Client Management

Advise, assist and service clients on insurance and risk matters to ensure clients' satisfaction.

Foster positive relationships with clients to get a mutual understanding of both their and Beazley's needs.

Maintenance of good business relationships with brokers.

Maintain awareness of overall Beazley product range and take advantages of opportunities to introduce other Beazley products to clients.

Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups.

Personal Specification:

Education & Qualifications

10+ years cyber and tech E&O underwriting experience

Insurance professional designations or advanced degree a plus

Skills & Abilities

Able to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing

Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

Ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise

Motivational skills, team worker as well as able to work on own initiative

Good people management skills

General commercial and financial knowledge, including knowledge of financial management for the insurance business

Knowledge & Experience

Extensive experience of Cyber Risks underwriting

Thorough knowledge of underwriting policy, philosophy and practice

Advanced knowledge of underwriting processes and systems

Client and broker service experience

Salary for this role will be tailored to the successful individual's location and experience. The expected compensation range for this position is 190k - 225k per year plus profit related pay and discretionary annual bonus.
