Job Description
The Department of Revenue is seeking a Chief of Staff to serve as a mission-focused, strategic leader providing executive and analytical support to the Revenue Commissioner. This position will work as a member of the Executive Team to help guide cross-functional departmental projects and initiatives. The position will manage key assignments and deliverables from central agencies and internal and external stakeholder in support of achieving the goals of the Revenue Department's strategic framework and assist with managing a broad range of department workflows; including workflows related to developing and reviewing written documents and reports. Providing professional and project management support to Revenue leadership and exercising ethical and confidential standards are key components of the position.
The Chief of Staff will report directly to the Revenue Commissioner and work collaboratively with other key Department of Revenue staff members, including the First Deputy Revenue Commissioner to help maximize the effectiveness of Revenue operations.
Essential Functions
Work with internal and external department stakeholders and help drive decisions.
Ensure execution of critical reports, mission-critical documents, such as strategic plans, and internal and external meetings and events; follow up on action items to ensure timely progress, and track the impact on department operations.
Serve as a key thought partner, brainstorming and identifying solutions to challenges.
Manage large, often cross-functional, organization-wide projects or initiatives, including maintaining project calendars and tracking of multiple projects.
Drive administrative-related projects to help achieve higher levels of efficiency and performance.
Provide administrative management support including drafting and reviewing emails, reports, memos, presentations, internal and external communications, other correspondence and written communications on behalf of the Revenue Commissioner and other department leaders always ensuring confidentiality.
Support operational program development and acts as a liaison between department leadership and programmatic areas.
Oversee research on best practices.
Perform other duties as assigned.
