Position: Aortic Surgery Clinical Fellowship (non-ACGME)


The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute and University of Pittsburgh Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery Center for Thoracic Aortic Disease and its expert cardiothoracic surgeons, continue to have one of the largest experiences in the world in treating patients with acute aortic dissections and thoracic aortic aneurysms, having treated over 1,800 acute aortic dissections since 2010. The Center is seeking a board certified or board eligible cardiothoracic surgeon to serve as a clinical fellow and Clinical Instructor in Cardiothoracic Surgery. This position will commence July 1, 2025 and will last for 12 months. The fellowship will allow for the graduate to be engaged and actively participate in the preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care of the patients. Recent graduates of traditional, independent, or integrated cardiothoracic surgery training programs will be considered. Scholarly interest in aortic surgery is strongly encouraged, but not essential. This position provides an opportunity to learn and be exposed to a variety of complex open, hybrid and endovascular therapies for thoracic aortic pathology. In addition, the fellow will participate in general adult cardiac surgery cases with a secondary focus on structural heart therapies.


Eligibility:

- Candidate must have completed an accredited program in Cardiothoracic Surgery

- Candidate must be Board Certified or Board Eligible

- Candidate must be eligible for an independent license in the state of Pennsylvania
