Social Work Mental Health Research Scientist

The research scientist will plan, organize, and help oversee predominantly NIMH-funded mental health services research
projects. Responsibilities include community engagement, the integration of service user and family members in all
activities, mixed methods data collection and analysis, and preparation of manuscripts. Specific projects include NIMH
grants focused on early psychosis and the implementation of SMI services within Certified Community Behavioral Health
Centers. The incumbent will report to the PI (Dr. Nev Jones), with ample opportunity for leadership on publications and the
development of adjunct projects.
Job Summary
Conducts independent scientific research projects from inception to presentation. Prepares and crafts various documentations of research results into manuscripts, proposals, grant applications, and presentations. Trains undergraduates and research technicians. Manages laboratory policies and coordinates project development in collaboration with other specialists.
Essential Functions
- Conducts independent mental health services research projects from inception to presentation, including planning, organizing, assessing protocol feasibility, conducting interviews and collecting data processing and analyzing data, and conference presentations.
- Prepares manuscripts, research proposals, articles, grant applications, work for publications, and presentations based on research results.
- Trains students and/or research assistants.
- Recommends, drafts, and manages lab policies and procedures.
- Facilitates work and project development in collaboration with community and academic partners.
Physical Effort
Mostly sedentary office tasks, with occasional lifting of objects under 25 pounds
