Job description

The client seeks a professional with 6+ years of experience in SAS and Python to lead an enterprise-wide migration from SAS to Python. This role involves converting existing SAS processes to Python, providing user support, and organizing training sessions. The candidate should have experience comparing SAS and Python capabilities, troubleshooting migration-related issues, and producing detailed documentation. The ideal candidate will also conduct workshops and ensure knowledge transfer to the internal team. Familiarity with Hadoop, Impala, Hive, Spark, and R is a plus.

Must-Have Technical Skills:

  • SAS 6+ yrs

  • Python 6+ yrs

  • Ability to not just code or develop, but also understand the business need so that they can translate that into Python. Understand how users are using SAS and implement it better into Python.

    Flex Skills/Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with Hadoop, Impala, Hive, Spark, and R (an open-source language)

    Statistical Analysis System Consultant Responsibilities:

  • Convert a current internal process that will need to be converted from SAS to Python

  • User enablement and support - providing individualized support and group sessions/office hours to help LOB SAS users convert processes to Python, offering troubleshooting/guidance, addressing concerns, and helping to resolve migration-related issues

  • Conduct a comparison of SAS and Python capabilities and identify functionality gaps, provide recommended workarounds/alternatives/adjustments

  • Produce detailed documentation and step-by-step guides for converting common SAS functions and procedures to Python (should cover statistical methods, data manipulation, and reporting)

  • Creation of FAQ and troubleshooting resources to address common issues

  • Organize training sessions and workshops to accelerate SAS user adoption of Python

  • Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions with ACC to ensure they are fully equipped to manage user issues and continue supporting the migration after contractor engagement ends
