Job description

Assistant, Associate, or Professor of Surgery

The University of Pittsburgh Physicians Heart and Vascular Institute and the Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular Surgery have an immediate opening for a fellowship trained, board certified / board eligible vascular surgeon at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Professor, open tenure for an established academic group with a large residency and fellowship training programs, with an advanced endovascular practice and thriving ambulatory outpatient centers.

The successful candidate will practice as a vascular surgeon in a dual capacity within the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) and the University of Pittsburgh Department of Surgery to include clinical, research and teaching responsibilities. He/she will participate in outreach efforts for the HVI, expanding inpatient and outpatient activities at locations within the HVI service area. As a faculty member, the successful candidate will actively participate in the research and educational mission of the HVI.

Prior clinical experience in an academic institution is strongly desirable. Skills and interest in specialized areas of vascular care and development of clinical centers of excellence are welcome. The opportunity to develop research interests and participate in educational activities is available.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

- Board Certified or Board Eligible

- Demonstrated excellent clinic outcomes

- Experience as a teacher or mentor of medical students and residents

- Demonstrated excellent clinic outcomes

- Qualified for medical licensure in Pennsylvania

- Minimum of 3 years of experience

General rank requirements:

An assistant professor should have demonstrated teaching ability, experience in advanced study and research, or professional experience of a kind which would enable them to make an academic contribution. An associate professor will have a strong experience with an impactful scholarship, a local, regional, and developing national reputation, effectiveness as a teacher, and service. Professor level should have attained superior stature in their field through scholarship, professional practice, and leadership in professional and learned organizations.
