Job description
The General Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of construction sites, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Our Client is a leading PA based GC who specializes in public work, higher education, and healthcare construction projects up to $20 million.
Description
- Site Management: Oversee all on-site construction activities from start to finish, ensuring that the project is progressing as planned and in accordance with specifications and regulations.
- Project Execution: Ensure that work is completed within the established schedule and budget while maintaining the highest quality standards, particularly for public works, higher education, and healthcare projects.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Manage and supervise subcontractors, including ensuring timely delivery of materials, labor, and adherence to project specifications.
- Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe work environment by implementing and enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular safety meetings, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations.
- Quality Control: Oversee all aspects of construction, including inspections, punch lists, and commissioning, ensuring that all work complies with industry standards, contract documents, and client expectations.
- Problem Solving: Proactively identify potential issues, conflicts, or delays and implement corrective actions to minimize project impacts.
- Client Communication: Act as a primary point of contact on-site for clients, consultants, and regulatory inspectors. Provide regular project updates to the project manager and stakeholders.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs, reports, and documentation related to project progress, site conditions, labor, and materials.
- Budget Management: Assist in controlling project costs by managing labor and material efficiencies and minimizing rework.
- Permitting & Inspections: Work closely with local authorities, inspectors, and permitting agencies to ensure project compliance with all relevant building codes and regulations.
Profile
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience as a superintendent in commercial construction.
- Strong background in public works, higher education, and healthcare projects, ideally with experience managing projects up to $20 million.
- Familiarity with the specific compliance, safety, and quality standards required for healthcare and educational facilities.
- Technical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of construction techniques, scheduling, project management, and building codes. Familiarity with LEED or sustainable construction practices is a plus.
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills to effectively manage on-site personnel and maintain a cohesive team environment.
- Software Proficiency: Knowledge of construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project) and the ability to use these tools for project tracking and reporting.
- Certifications: OSHA 30 certification required. Additional certifications such as LEED, PMP, or other relevant construction safety certifications are a plus.
