Daytime ASPIRA Adjunct-All sites ASPIRA is a 1-credit first year seminar course developed specifically for the Hispanic or Latino/a/e/x student. In addition to exploring topics of interest to Latino/a/e/x students including identity, acculturation, community and leadership, this unique 10-week seminar engages students in learning how to navigate college, succeed in academics, and identify personal and career goals. Bilingual (Spanish/English) Identifies as Hispanic or Latinx/a/o Sensitivity to the transition from high school to college Prior experience working on behalf of underrepresented or minoritized populations Knowledge of issues, barriers and equity-minded strategies pertaining to Hispanic/Latinx student college success, including academic excellence, persistence and retention, graduation. Knowledge and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of first-generation Latina/o/x students and their families. Demonstrated cultural awareness, agility, ability to build trust and credibility while navigating a complex landscape. Masters degree or 18 graduate credits in appropriate discipline preferred or combination of relevant degree and appropriate work experience. Prior teaching experience at the community college preferred.
