Job description

The Category Manager - Electrochemistry will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing and category management plans within the electrochemistry domain.

This role is required to be based locally to Providence, RI. Relocation assistance will be provided if necessary.

Our client manufactures and distributes analytical instrumentation for the chemistry, industrial, and food & beverage markets. They are specifically looking to grow some of their international markets and develop new products focused on laboratory automation and efficiency.

Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Category Strategy Development:

    • Develop and execute strategic plans for the electrochemistry category to align with overall business objectives.
    • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and potential risks within the electrochemistry sector.
  2. Supplier Management:

    • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers to ensure the best combination of quality, cost, and delivery performance.
    • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to foster collaboration and innovation.
  3. Procurement & Sourcing:

    • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for electrochemistry-related products and services.
    • Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
    • Implement cost-saving initiatives and drive continuous improvement in procurement processes.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Work closely with R&D, engineering, and product development teams to support new product introductions and ensure alignment with category strategies.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their needs and provide solutions that meet technical and business requirements.
  5. Market & Competitive Intelligence:

    • Stay informed about industry trends, technological advancements, and competitive landscape.
    • Provide insights and recommendations based on market research and competitor analysis.
  6. Reporting & Analytics:

    • Track and analyze category performance metrics, including cost savings, supplier performance, and market conditions.
    • Prepare and present reports to senior management, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and opportunities.

Profile

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in category management, procduct management, or marketing, with a focus on electrochemistry or related technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of electrochemical processes, products, and market dynamics.
  • Proven experience in supplier negotiation, contract management, and cost optimization.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and procurement software/tools.
  • Located near Providence, RI

Job Offer

  • $120,000 - $150,000 base salary contingent upon years of experience
