Overview:
Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC) is seeking a Manager, Waste Retrieval and Removal to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.
This Manager provides direction and leadership to Waste Removal & Tank Closure (WR&TC) Project Managers ensuring overall waste removal program and mission requirements are being met, and all operations and maintenance activities and strategies are evaluated and developed in accordance with DOE Orders, DOE directives, and best management practices. Establishes and maintains clear lines of communication providing the interface necessary to ensure high-level waste removal projects are progressing as scheduled. Oversees all operational planning and maintenance support which includes contingency planning, active project status, and infrastructure support to ensure timely implementation of waste removal and tank closure.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for the allocation of resources (direct report, indirect or matrixed) to support waste retrieval and tank closure activities.
Reviews and monitors risk analyses and exercises decision authority to define and approve or escalate corrective actions and set priorities.
Provides guidance and leadership relative to project cost, schedule and scope, while adhering to Site quality, environmental, and safety objectives.
Provides guidance and leadership relative to the development and implementation of alternate operational strategies (contingency plans) to meet waste removal schedules.
Interfaces with other program and facility leaders to maintain clear communication channels and ensure proper alignment between operational priorities and waste removal schedule implementation.
Provides communication with DOE and other Stakeholders concerning the overall operating strategies, status and alternate proposals for waste removal programs/projects.
Resolves budget issues affecting projects by participating in the Project Change Control Board along with negotiating and obtaining concurrence and support of DOE-SR.
Interfaces with department leaders, internal customers, support groups, service and material resources, and oversight organizations.
Provides Leadership and directs ongoing personnel training program, emphasizing managerial skills and the development of personnel within the waste removal and tank closure program.
Continually reviews requirements in safety, health protection, conduct of operations, environmental, safeguards and security, and quality programs.
Provides key strategic operational planning input for development of the System Plan and Annual Operating Plan. Actively support the Waste Removal re-baselining process, detailing specific task activities and a cost estimate in support of the High Level Waste System Plan.
Advises, supports, and coordinates with other departments and site organizations in relation to Total Quality and Continuous improvement in order to promote improvements including standardization and cost effectiveness

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in engineering and progressive experience in closure or decommissioning operations, technical project management, or similar; or
Bachelor's degree (non-engineering) and progressive experience in closure or decommissioning operations, technical project management, or similar; or
High School Diploma/GED and secondary education and/or progressive experience in closure or decommissioning operations, technical project management, or similar
Additional Information:
Candidate(s) selected to receive an offer will be offered the position and salary grade level (Grade level 72 or 73) commensurate with their experience and qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Broad technical base which demonstrates chemical and nuclear material processing knowledge
Broad understanding of environmental laws and regulations, DOE orders and knowledge of company policies
Demonstrated leadership experience including previous direct people management
Project Management experience

Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC), a prime contractor for the US Department of Energy, is responsible for managing the Department of Energy's Savannah River Site's Liquid Waste operations contract. Located in Aiken, South Carolina, SRMC is a limited liability company formed by nuclear operations and environmental remediation global leaders BWXT, Amentum, and Fluor.
