EMI Services is hiring an experienced Lead General Maintenance Worker with supervisory experience to join our team at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina! This position plays a crucial role in supporting our base operations under a comprehensive Base Operations Support Contract. The Lead General Maintenance Worker will supervise a team of maintenance personnel and ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of base facilities and infrastructure.

$22.37/ hr. plus $4.57 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

Key Responsibilities

Lead a team of maintenance workers in executing daily tasks and projects

Conduct routine inspections of base facilities to identify and address maintenance issues

Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities to ensure minimal disruption to base operations

Perform preventive maintenance on equipment and systems to ensure operational efficiency

Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies during and after regular working hours

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inventory, and inspections

Train and mentor junior maintenance staff to enhance their skills and capabilities

Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols in all maintenance activities

Collaborate with other base support teams to achieve overall operational goals

Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work

Essential Skills

Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems

Proficient in using maintenance tools, equipment, and diagnostic devices

Excellent organizational and leadership skills

Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Strong problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written

Adhere to safety policies and procedures to include proper use of personal protective equipment

Physical Requirements

Lifting and carrying objects/boxes/print-outs short and long distances

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted

Work with a personal computer

Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking

Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

additional vocational training or certification is a plus

Proven experience in a maintenance role, with at least 5 years in a lead or supervisory position

Valid driver's license

Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check

Regular, dependable attendance

U. S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working on military installations or similar government contracts

Certification in HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, or other relevant trades

Familiarity with environmental and occupational safety standards

Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
