Gastroenterologist opportunity in Conway, SC - Located 10 miles from Myrtle Beach- 325,000 person population Position Details: - Digestive Health- Immediate need- Reason for search: department growth- Full-time, permanent position- Recruiting another GI due to patient need and expansion. They currently have 4 GIs and 2 NPs. The goal is to have 4 full time providers in the group. They have expanded their endoscopy area at the hospital and have 3 fully updated rooms.- 4 weeks wait time for new patients- Candidate Parameters: Fellowship trained and board certified/eligible in gastroenterology. 2022 and 2023 candidates accepted as well as those currently practicing. Can have advanced endoscopy fellowship (EUS/ERCP) but doesnt have to. Typical Schedule: - Full time position - Monday thru Friday- 36 Patient Contact Hours - 4 Admin Hours/week- 1:4 Call - Consult Only Service - No Admissions- Consults and rounding a done by the physician on call. Scope of Practice: - 50/50 split on clinic lab/endoscopy- 11 - 12 Patients per day for procedures; 20-25 per physician seen in the clinic- Each physician has their own designated RN for support- 5000 cases per year in the endoscopy area - 500 inpatient/4500 outpatient- 75 ERCP and 180 EUS in 2021- Cancer Center is affiliated with Duke Health Network, which allows for cancer cases to stay in network and local to the area versus referring.- Candidates can do a general GI practice, but there is also demand for ERCP and EUS procedures/advanced endoscopy Endoscopy Area: - Renovating the area in 2022- Currently 4 procedure rooms and 8 holding rooms (pre and post operative area)- Scopes - Olympus 180 and 190 series (HD scopes)- C-Arm is available in the department- Colonoscopies are done with Propofol and anesthesia supportAll procedures are done with propofol in our unit, but if the doctor travels to ICU to do a procedure where anesthesia is not there, then they would do that procedure with conscious sedation. Medical Center (established 1928): - Independent non-profit, 501c3 hospital (1 of 3 left in the state of South Carolina)- Wonderful physician/administration relationship and listed as a strength of the opportunity by the providers I talked to on the profile.- Administration has a long tenure and proven track record.- Board Chair has 20 years in leadership and is well respected in the community.- CEO has a seat on the board to vote.- Community Focused - 1st hospital in SC to administer COVID-19 vaccinations, because it was the right thing to do for the area.- Financially Stable Hospital - 450+ days cash on hand for operating pre-COVID. During COVID it only dipped to 420 days.- 210 acute care bed facility (operating at 155 average census)- 200+ physicians on medical staff (30 specialties)- 12 ORs- Surgical robot available- CRNA and MDA staffing- Extremely low infection rate - 0% for the last 3 months (March 2021)- Level III Trauma Center- Open ICU- Stable ED (40-year contract) and Hospitalist (Team Health) staffing contracts in place- EMR - Cerner (Both in the hospital and Clinics) w/ Dragon Dictation- New retail pharmacy on the hospital campus- Duke Affiliation with the Cancer and Cardiology Programs- Malpractice Carrier: PHLIP w/ Tail Coverage- New hospital is planned in 2025 - 50 bed facility that will be closer to the beach Patient Panel Breakdown: - 82.7% Caucasian- 13.1% African American- 6.1% Hispanic Payor Mix: - 40-45% Medicare- 20% BCBS- 15% Medicaid- 8-10% Self Pay New Family Medicine Residency began in July 2020 w/ Campbell University: - 8 residents- 3 rd and 4 th years medical students
