Overview:
The YMCA of Greenville is a dynamic and rapidly growing association that seeks to strengthen the community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
With the supervision of the VP of Youth & Family Services, the Teen Engagement Director is responsible for leading, developing and implementing programs, activities, and initiatives that foster engagement, personal growth, and leadership development among teenagers for both middle and high school. aligning with The YMCA of Greenville's strategic plan, meets community needs, and complements our Teen Services Department. The Director will develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to serve teens ages 12-18. Collaborating with the Teen Services Department, schools, YMCA branches, youth-serving programs, and community partners, this role focuses on creating a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment where teens can connect with peers, develop life skills, and participate in meaningful activities. The Teen Engagement Director will collaborate with staff, community organizations, and parents to ensure that all programs align with the organization's mission and goals. This position requires travel between branches and working some evenings and weekends, including travel for out-of-town conferences.

Responsibilities:
Teen Leadership and Teen Achievers Program Management:
Develop, plan, and oversee a range of Teen Leadership and Teen Achievers programs aimed at engaging teens in social, educational, and recreational activities.
Build strong relationships with teens, encouraging their participation and fostering a sense of community.
Create leadership development opportunities and mentorship programs to empower teens and promote personal growth.
Collaborate with community partners, schools, and organizations to expand programming opportunities and resources.
Plan and execute events, workshops, and trips focused on teen interests, including arts, sports, career exploration, and volunteering.
Act as a mentor and positive role model, addressing the individual needs and challenges of teenagers.
Promote a culture of inclusivity, respect, and safety in all programs.
Maintain communication with parents, guardians, and community stakeholders to ensure engagement and support for teen programs.
Recruit, train, and manage volunteers or staff involved in teen programs.
Monitor and evaluate program success, collecting feedback to continuously improve offerings.
Manage program budgets, including overseeing expenditures and fundraising efforts when necessary.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and any relevant legal or safety regulations.
Develop marketing and outreach strategies to raise awareness of teen programs and drive participation.
Mission Fulfillment: Contribute to and supervise the execution of the YMCA mission through teen initiatives, programs, and memberships, while overseeing staff involved in teen programming.
Collaborative Relationships:
Collaborate with community partners, schools, and organizations to expand Teen Leadership and Teen Achievers programming opportunities and resources.
Develop and maintain partnerships with local middle and high schools, and other community organizations that serve and support teens and families.
Leadership in Youth Programs:
Support and collaborate with YMCA branches in out-of-school time programs targeted towards teens ages 12-18yrs, summer teen camps (including L.I.T. and CIT camps), and serve as a liaison for branch Youth & Government delegations.
Quality Standards:
Work with the VP of Youth & Family Services to establish and implement Quality Standards and Standard Operating Procedures for Teen Programming.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and any relevant legal or safety regulations.
Strategic Collaboration:
Collaborate with the VP of Strategic Initiatives to provide data on teen initiatives for strategic planning and board/community presentations.
Diversity & Inclusion:
Act as a mentor and positive role model, addressing the individual needs and challenges of teenagers. Promote a culture of inclusivity, respect, and safety in all programs.
Model inclusive behaviors and embrace all dimensions of diversity. Board Collaboration: Work with Branch Executive Directors to develop teen representation on branch boards.
Volunteer Management:
Recruit, train, manage and monitor volunteers involved in teen programming.
Committee Leadership:
Lead a Teen AOC Committee to ensure quality, consistency, and high standards across branches.
Staff Development:
Serve as a resource for recruiting and onboarding teen leadership staff throughout the association.
Other Expectations:
Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
Attend/complete required abuse risk management training
Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
Follow mandated reporting requirements
Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities
Follow employees and volunteers screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk
Provide employees and volunteers with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk
Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers.
Require employees and volunteers to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk
Respond quickly to policy and procedure violation using the organization's progressive disciplinary procedures
Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors
Follow mandated reporting requirements
Communicate to all employees and volunteers the organization's commitment to protect their consumer from abuse
Report essential abuse risk management information to the board of directors.
