Job description
Duties Serves as the Information Management Officer (IMO) with responsibility for coordinating and administering the Brigades/Battalions/DDMTs Information Technology (IT) requirements. Performs duties to support the agency's IT needs, such as resolving user IT problems, submitting IT and service requirements on both Secure Internal Protocol Routing Network (SIPRNET) and Non-Secure Internet Protocol Routing Network (NIPRNET). Serves as the primary VTC Operator, actively managing VTC capability (both Unclassified and Classified network) by scheduling, advertising, coordinating, and performing administration, maintenance, repair, training, and upgrade functions. Report internal IT problems/incidents, tracking submitted requirements and incidents using approved ticketing system, implements equipment life cycle replacement, and ensures implementation of software installation and updates. Serves as a stakeholder in SDDC mission planning process; serves as a key member of the mission planning teams to develop a communications solution in meeting the DDMT mission requirement. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 25% of the time. This position requires the incumbent to hold IA Technical Level II certification under DOD Directive 8570.1 (IA Training and Workforce Management) and related implementing policies. If appointed as Contract Officer Representative (COR), employee is required to complete CLC222, CLC106, and CLM003 courses and also obtain 40 hours of continuous training every 2 years. The incumbent may be required to work nonstandard duty hours (e.g., shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime-both scheduled and unscheduled). The incumbent is required to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/re-certification for this position as outlined in DOD 8140-01 Cyberspace Workforce Management. Within 6 months of assignment, must achieve and maintain the appropriate IA certification. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. Basic Requirement for Information Technology Specialist (Systems Administration/Customer Support): Specialized and Other Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Assisting in the administration, development, and support of information technology (IT) systems and services; 2) Identifying, reporting and resolving a variety of IT issues and problems; AND 3) Providing information and assistance to customers. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: completing work independently that rarely requires editing or review by others. (2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: resolving simple and routine problems, questions, or complaints and providing support and guidance to customers on non-routine issues; serving as a primary resource for customers, requesting assistance with complex issues when necessary; and participating in meetings and providing advice to customers in own area of expertise. (4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
