Job description
THIS POSITION CAN BE BASED IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CITIES: CHATTANOOGA, TN; GREENVILLE, SC; GREENSBORO, NC
DUTIES:
Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security programs across multiple chemical manufacturing locations.
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local EHS regulations and standards
Design, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures to minimize risk and enhance safety and environmental performance.
Develop EHS metrics and ensure alignment with the overall business goals, including proactive safety improvements and sustainability initiatives.
Ensure that provisions of the Environmental Management System are established, maintained, and implemented, and all regulatory reporting is completed on time and in full.
Guide and direct company compliance with requirements for PSM and RMP.
Oversee all existing Occupational Safety Programs, including Incident Reporting Program, Site Security Program, Ergonomic Program, Behavioral Based Safety Program, Emergency Response Program, and life-critical Permit to Work Programs (Hot Work/ Confined Space/ Lock Out Tag Out, Line Break, and High Work)
Manage and mentor EHS professionals at various sites, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement and ensure safety practices are implemented consistently
Coordinate and conduct regular EHS audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with EHS standards.
Ensure all incidents are reported and investigated and that root cause corrective actions are implemented across all sites.
Improve site security to increase the protection of personnel, plant assets, and facilities.
Serve as the primary point of contact for EHS-related matters with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, industry groups, and the community.
Inform and update senior leadership regarding existing or potential issues and regulatory requirements impacting EHS performance.
Propose capital improvement projects as needed to improve EHS performance, and guide project execution to support Operations, Engineering and Maintenance Services.
Support operations to create a culture of functional excellence, accountability, professionalism and commitment to company values and standards.
Interact, collaborate, and influence personnel in other departments, including Production, Commercial, Customer Service, Shipping, Receiving, Supply Chain, Laboratory, Engineering, and Finance, as related to environmental, health, safety, and security issues.
Be available after hours for plant assistance by phone or in the plant.
Complete other tasks as directed by senior leadership.
