Description: BASIC PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Environmental Services Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of environmental services within East Tennessee Children's Hospital. This role ensures that the hospital maintains the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control, providing a safe and healthy environment for patients, families, and staff. The manager will lead a team of environmental services staff, implement best practices, and promote a culture of safety and excellence in service delivery.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Supervisory Responsibilities: YES

Minimum Education: High School/GED Required, Bachelor's Degree Preferred

License/Certification Required: No

Minimum Work Experience: 3-5 years of management/supervisory experience. (Experience may be substituted with education)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Strong knowledge of infection control practices and environmental services standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in using computer software for scheduling, inventory management, and reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications such as Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Word.
  • Proficient in payroll and timekeeping systems, with strong attention to detail.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • • Supervise daily activities of the environmental services team.

    • Recruit, train, and develop staff for optimal performance and satisfaction.

    • Conduct performance evaluations and maintain performance logs.

    • Develop and monitor cleaning protocols to meet hospital standards.

    • Ensure cleanliness of patient rooms, common areas, and restrooms.

    • Collaborate with Infection Prevention to enforce infection control protocols.

    • Assist in budget development and resource management for environmental services.

    • Oversee payroll processes and maintain accurate timekeeping records.

    • Conduct inspections and audits to ensure quality compliance.

    • Monitor patient satisfaction and implement service recovery strategies.

    • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain compliance documentation.

    • Manage linen inventory and distribution, training staff on best practices.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Note: Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Heavy lifting, pushing, and pulling is required up to 50 lbs. occasionally, 20-30 lbs. frequently, and 10lbs constantly to move objects of up to 150 lbs. Sudden emergency situations have the potential for exposure to lifting or moving of up to 150 lbs. Frequent bending, walking, sitting squatting, reaching, and standing are required. Keyboard/computer use and/or repetitive motions may be required.
