Pay: $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 25 per week; Part-time position
Position Summary of the Field and Housing Inspector:
The Field and Housing Inspector will evaluate and ensure residential properties' quality, safety, and compliance. This role involves inspecting homes and apartments to confirm adherence to building codes, health and safety regulations, and local, state, and federal housing standards and/or others prescribed by client programs. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively (verbally / writing) internally and externally.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Conduct Inspections: Perform comprehensive inspections of residential properties to assess their condition and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal housing codes and regulations.
- Technology: Able to utilize various Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.), Adobe, and company software after training, along with cameras, and communication devices / office equipment. Drone usage desirable, but not required.
- Document Findings: Prepare detailed inspection reports documenting observations, deficiencies, and recommendations. Maintain accurate records of all inspections and follow-up actions.
- Ensure Compliance: Verify that properties meet required safety standards, including electrical systems, plumbing, structural integrity, and overall habitability.
- Provide Guidance: Offer expert advice to property owners and managers on necessary repairs or upgrades to bring properties into compliance with regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with Authorities: Work closely with local government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders to address any violations or issues found during inspections.
- Manage Projects: Oversee and track the progress of repair or renovation projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Stay Updated: Keep abreast of changes in housing regulations, building codes, and industry best practices to maintain up-to-date knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Education- GED or Highschool degree required; further education in construction management, building technology, or a related field is preferred.
- Skills- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Experience- Minimum of 3 years of experience in housing inspection, construction, or a related field. Previous experience with Allworld Project Management or a similar organization is a plus.
- Certifications- Relevant certifications such as Housing Inspector Certification, Building Inspector Certification, or similar credentials are desirable.

Working conditions:
- Environment: Primarily field-based inspections with some office work for report preparation and coordination. Typically works at residential properties, outdoor and in all-weather conditions.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to inspect various property conditions, which may involve climbing ladders, crouching, or stand for long periods of time and may involve manual labor. You will need to be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull, and carry items.
- Travel: Occasional travel within the assigned inspection area may be required.
