Description:

Alloy Group is working with a battery cell startup in the commercial vehicle industry to hire a Battery Cell Manufacturing Engineering Manager. This manager will be integral to launching a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Mississippi, focusing on the development and implementation of advanced, high-speed automated equipment for commercial vehicle battery cells.

What You Need:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience: 10+ years in manufacturing, with 3-5 years in a management role and at least 3 years in battery cell manufacturing (required).
  • Technical Expertise:
    • Strong background in battery cell manufacturing standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14000, and IATF 16949.
    • Extensive experience with industrial engineering concepts (line balancing, timing charts) and implementing large manufacturing lines.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing safety systems (Safety PLCs, robot safety, LOTO) and hands-on PLC controls experience (Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Beckhoff).
    • Familiarity with MES and database systems.
  • Travel: 20% travel to China over a 12-month period for design and factory acceptance testing.
  • Additional Skills: Strong communication, cross-functional leadership, and problem-solving skills.

What You Will Do:
In this role, you will lead the manufacturing engineering team in driving the launch and ongoing operations of a new, high-capacity battery cell production facility. As a key contributor, you will manage the end-to-end setup and optimization of over 700 pieces of equipment, collaborating with both domestic and international partners to achieve seamless design, deployment, and operational performance of the plant.

  • Lead and develop a team of manufacturing engineers within critical production areas.
  • Coordinate design, testing, and commissioning of advanced, high-speed equipment, partnering with suppliers to meet key milestones.
  • Transition equipment to full-scale production, managing day-to-day operations with a focus on safety, uptime, and efficiency metrics.
  • Conduct process validation and failure mode analysis (PFMEA) to support high equipment uptime and consistent quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing systems to optimize performance and enhance automated processes.
