JOB TITLE: Becoming Us Middle School Program Specialist
FSLA Status: Exempt
PROGRAM AREA: Youth Action and Advocacy
Primary job objective: Work with and for LGBTQ+ youth within and outside of Middle Tennessee. This is achieved through:
- The coordination and facilitation of all direct-to-youth programming and related responsibilities for the middle school drop-in program, Becoming Us, and summer program, Just Camp
Direct to youth programming:
- Plan and implement weekly in-person drop-in programming for LGBTQ+ middle school youth through Becoming Us
- Plan and implement summer programming for LGBTQ+ middle school youth through Just Camp
- Assist Program Director in coordination, and on-site facilitation, of Youth Area at Nashville Pride Festival
- Develop and maintain community partnerships to offer enrichment, service learning, and college and career access for youth participants
- Maintain consistent communication with the Oasis clinical team to refer and coordinate youth to Oasis clinical services as needed
- Manage all program volunteers and encourage reflection and action based on best practices
- Sustain communication with youth, parents, teachers, and counselors in order to ensure students are receiving the support and guidance they need regarding school support, clinical support, and participation in Oasis Center programming
- Ensure that sessions reflect best practices for positive youth development and the components of Quality Youth Programming
- Co-plan and implement youth events such as LGBTQ+ College Fair with Oasis College Connection and LGBTQ+ Youth Prom with Just Us High School Program Specialist
Community efforts:
- Serve on community committees when appropriate and related to LGBTQ+ youth issues, sexual health, positive youth development, and school supports
- Attend and table community events when appropriate and related to LGBTQ+ youth programming
Administrative:
- Administer, record, and store intake and guardian permission forms for participants across programs
- Keep records of each program participant and collect and report attendance promptly following weekly sessions
- Keep in close communication with data manager for state-based and internal data reporting
- Attend all agency and team meetings and collaborate across programs

Minimal Requirements / Performance Standards:
- Two years of direct service youth experience and/or two years of experience working with LGBTQ+ youth in a similar setting
- Experience in public speaking and facilitating information in an accessible and effective manner.
- Competence with LGBTQ+ identities
- Understanding of current LGBTQ+ issues and legislation impacting LGBTQ+ community
- Comfort speaking to and opening dialogue surrounding oppression and social inequities.
- Basic proficiency in social media platforms
- Ability to drive 12 and 15 passenger van
