Job description

Requisition Id 13787 Overview: The Stable Isotopes Production Facility (SIPF) Demonstration Group within the Enrichment Science and Engineering Division (ESED) is seeking Enrichment Production Technicians. This group is focused on the demonstration and operation of new gas centrifuge technology associated with the enrichment of stable isotopes. The ESED serves the nation in two critical areas: advancing enrichment technologies and exploring enriched stable isotope production and applications. The division leverages an elite staff of scientists, engineers, technical professionals, and technicians with the world-leading capabilities of Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to deliver groundbreaking advancements with a variety of applications, from national security to life-saving medical treatments. As part of our team, you will work with directorate and laboratory personnel to stand-up and operate the Stable Isotopes Production Facility. SIPF will establish a domestic full-production cascade for enriched stable isotopes to fill government research and other domestic needs not met by commercial suppliers, and reduce the nation's reliance on foreign sources of enriched stable isotopes. Once the full planned capability is achieved, the SIPF Demonstration Group will move to the Isotope Processing and Manufacturing Division (IPMD) and will be responsible for the ongoing manufacturing of enriched stable isotopes. This position reports to the SIPF Demonstration Group Leader. Major Duties/Responsibilities: Perform work in a safe and secure manner consistent with expectations and in compliance with ORNL policies, standards, and procedures.
Complete assigned training, certification, and qualifications within established timeframes.

Commissioning, start-up, testing, maintenance, and operation of complex systems used for the enrichment of stable isotopes, including trend analysis and response to abnormal equipment conditions.
Maintain records of facility operations (e.g. narrative logs, rounds, test data, etc.).
Participate in research and development activities associated with isotope enrichment.
SIPF will be a 24/7 facility. Shift work, flexible hours, and overtime are required.
Deliver ORNL's mission by aligning behaviors, priorities, and interactions with our core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service. Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility by fostering a respectful workplace - in how we treat one another, work together, and measure success. Basic Qualifications: AS degree in science or technical related disciplines and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education and applicable experience will be considered. Preferred Qualifications: Active DOE Q clearance

Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and to participate creatively in collaborative teams across the laboratory.
Ability to function well in a fast-paced research environment, set priorities to accomplish multiple tasks within deadlines, and adapt to ever changing needs. Special Requirements: Work involves various physical requirements and working conditions. As such, a pre-hire physical will be required after offer.
