What You Will Do: Analyzing safety basis documentation (documented safety analyses DSAs , hazard categorization documents, auditable safety analyses, un-reviewed safety questions, justifications for continued operation, TSRs, PDSAs, and other safety basis documents), programs, procedures, rules, DOE orders and standards to ensure compliance with DOE Nuclear Safety Requirements.
Preparing documents (e.g. SERs) which provide the results of safety basis document reviews and the basis for approval.

Applying knowledge of nuclear risk management and hazard assessment to ensure program priorities are established, formal process requirements are met, and resources are applied to ensure safety of operations.
Ensuring nuclear safety regulations, practices, programs, and procedures are implemented such that health and safety features and precautions are considered as an integral part of normal operating procedures.
Utilizing deterministic and probabilistic techniques and requirements in the application of hazard analysis applicable to nuclear and non-nuclear hazards.
Leading review teams for approval of safety basis documentation and hazard assessments for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
Leading teams in the use of probabilistic risk assessment techniques and failure mode analysis to identify and categorize hazards associated with nuclear and non-nuclear systems.
Evaluating safety basis programs to determine whether the program complies with applicable codes, standards and guides, regulations, orders, and acceptable practices.
Collaborating with DOE contractor representatives in the development of technical safety requirements to facilitate the identification and implementation of control aspects of an integrated safety management program and to ensure that a manageable set of Technical
Safety Requirements have been established to govern the safety of activities conducted at assigned facilities.
Interpreting models for risk assessment and pathway analysis.
Ensuring that facility hazards have been identified, adequate controls have been identified, and safety basis is current and reliable, allowing senior management to understand facility risks, devise appropriate controls, and grant approval to operate.
Developing and evaluating an integrated safety, environmental, quality, and health program on a major project with chemical, radiological, and/or industrial hazards.
Reviewing and evaluating the adequacy of DOE contractor changes to nuclear facility PDSAs, DSAs, TSRs, and operating procedures.
Reviewing and/or approving safety analyses, design bases, technical safety requirements, and other forms of safety bases, and actions taken on related violations and unusual occurrences. What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
Bachelor of Science in Engineering, physics, or related field.
Training on DOE standards and guides for implementation of nuclear safety management programs in accordance with 10 CFR 830 (including safe harbor methodologies, Technical Safety Requirements, and Unreviewed Safety Questions Processes). Benefits and Salary:
