Technology driven energy sector company, moving to the North Dallas area, is seeking an exceptional accounting professional to join as the Controller. Opportunity to collaborate with the CEO and CFO to build a new accounting department. The Controller will play a key role in managing all accounting operations, financial reporting, and financial planning for the Company. This role requires outstanding leadership abilities, in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, and a demonstrated track record in team management and development. Initially, the Controller will lead a team of two accountants and an outsourced accounting service with the goal of migrating the outsourced accounting to an in-house fully staffed department.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Oversee all aspects of financial accounting, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger management, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles including evaluation of new accounting standards and guidance.
  • Manage public company filings, currently Canadian Securities Exchange and SEDAR. The Company is migrating to US Securities and Exchange filings.
  • Manage annual audit and quarterly review with public accountants.
  • Lead selection of new accounting and financial reporting software. Assist in the design and implementation of the selected accounting and financial reporting software.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, promoting a high-performance culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Offer guidance and training to ensure staff proficiency and adherence to best practices in accounting, financial reporting, and cash management.
  • Develop and enforce comprehensive financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with both internal and external requirements.
  • Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting in collaboration with CFO.
  • Prepare management reporting including detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analyses of financial performance, variances, and cash positions.
  • Monitor tax compliance and coordinate with preparation of state, federal and international tax returns with outside tax firm.
  • Provide strategic financial analysis and recommendations to support decision-making by senior management.
  • Support special projects and initiatives, including acquisitions and new project development, from a financial perspective.
  • Collaborate with CEO and CFO to prepare ad hoc presentations and analysis to support proposals and deal development for potential projects.
  • Collaborate with CEO and CFO to prepare ad hoc presentations for the Board of Directors.

Job Requirements:


  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience, with a preference for industrial services experience.
  • At least 5 years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Active CPA license.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Deep understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proven expertise in financial planning, analysis, and reporting.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Multinational experience preferred.

Location: North Dallas. The position is onsite.
