Job description

Overview:

The Dental Assistant supports the mission of People's Community Clinic by assuring that dental services are delivered in a manner consistent with PCC's strong commitment to high quality care and strong patient satisfaction.

The starting range for this position is $19.25 - $24.00 hourly.

Responsibilities:
Greet patients, check in for appointments, screen for insurance eligibility, check out and schedule follow up appointments as necessary.
Prepare patients for treatment or checkups ensuring their comfort and a positive dental experience.
Verify patient health history, record blood pressure, complete periodontal charting, document patient treatment chairside, and document appropriately in the patient's chart, abiding by state and federal laws.
Assist dentist/hygienist during treatments and procedures.
Clean, sterilize, and prepare the equipment and operatory including stocking supplies and set-up instruments, per the organizations procedures and guidelines, prior to a patient's appointment.
Expose dental diagnostic x-rays
Create an environment of respect and compassion for patients and staff and support a friendly and positive work environment.
Identify opportunities to improve work flow, work processes and patient care, and work cooperatively to implement these and other quality improvements.
Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA and Infection control guidelines.
Qualifications:

Education:

High School Diploma/GED
Completion of a dental assistant program from an accredited school

Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as a chairside dental assistant

Certificate/License:

Certification must be completed within the first 90 days of employment and may be reimbursed by PCC.

Registered dental assistant, currently licensed in the State of Texas
CPR Certified
X-ray Certified

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
Knowledge of dental equipment, material, procedures, terminology and chart preparation
Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact effectively with a diverse population
Self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision
Strong oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills; Patient, flexible and able to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Ability to problem solve and implement solutions for optimal clinic productivity
Proficiency in MS word, excel and outlook
