Job description

At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader - we're changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We're committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts.

Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work - every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet.

Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers - and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

eBay Live is a new way to sell on eBay, where sellers and buyers interact live on video. eBay sellers build buyer trust, expand their customer base, and grow repeat business through consistent and engaging live streams on eBay Live. eBay buyers can view, chat, ask questions, give feedback, vote, and buy online during eBay Live selling.

We are seeking an experienced Programming, Production & Events Lead to join our rapidly growing eBay Live program. This person will develop and implement our programming and content strategy, focusing most significantly on how to activate our large base of sellers to create compelling, engaging (and in some cases buzzy) content. This role requires a keen understanding of different buyer needs across categories such as sports, collectibles, and fashion, the ability to identify trends and cultural events to develop engaging programs, and the analytical chops to set up hypotheses, test against them, and smartly iterate based on results.

What will you accomplish:

Develop a comprehensive understanding of buyer needs, trends, and culturally relevant events to create a calendar of events and live selling franchises that boost repeat viewership and Gross Merchandise Volume (GMV) on eBay Live.

Formulate and rigorously test hypotheses regarding themes, content & selling formats, hosts and optimal times for live sessions.

Collaborate with top sellers, agencies, and internal teams to ensure a continuous stream of engaging content on eBay Live, developing scalable programs that engage our sellers in the co-creation of this content.

Forge partnerships with key personalities and sellers in the Collectibles and Fashion sectors to attract audiences and drive sales on eBay Live.

Design and implement playbooks ranging from low-fi to high-fi for both seller-led and eBay-led events; provide support for live productions as needed

Lead a small team of producers to deliver outstanding support for sellers and eBay internal teams putting on content

Some travel may be required to meet with partners, attend events, or support live productions.

What You Will Bring:

8+ years of experience in creative and analytical roles within content strategy, programming, consumer product marketing, or site merchandising, preferably in a media company or social network. Live Streaming and/or E-commerce is highly preferred.

A robust blend of creative and analytical skills, with a keen sense for both trends and commercial success.

Proven ability to generate creative ideas, assess & size opportunities, lobby for resources, and lead teams to execution.

Highly organized, with strong project management skills and with the ability to define new processes to achieve goals

Dedicated leader and influencer of people who can energize our team and the broader organization against developing this new muscle for eBay

Ideally: experience selecting and managing external agencies
