What we are looking for:

M-B is currently hiring a Senior Engineering Technician to be based out of our office in Austin, Texas. The candidate who fills this position will perform advanced and specialized drafting using Microstation and Bentley OpenRoads design software, calculations and design work; performs field work; uses automated systems; learns specialized techniques; trains and reviews the work of others. Design activity is overseen by a licensed professional engineer who has final approval authority for projects. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

How you'll make an impact as a Senior Engineering Technician:

• Performs advanced and specialized design work using Microstation and OpenRoads design software.
• Performs advanced and specialized drafting and calculations in support of design activities; develops graphic presentations that include distinctive design features.
• Prepares roadway design, traffic control, lighting, signal, and intelligent transportation system plans, specifications and estimates.
• Receives project assignments, determines work requirements to complete project plans and coordinates scheduling to accommodate projects already underway.
• Reviews entire sets of plans for format, drafting and calculation errors and correlation of plans and specifications.
• Trains less experienced technicians.
• Uses additional automated design tools or specialized design procedures in areas including intelligent transportation systems, traffic management, geometric design, signal and lighting design.
• Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.

What it takes to be successful as a Senior Engineering Technician:

• Extensive knowledge of Microstation and OpenRoads design software
• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• Job Related College education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year-by-year basis.
• 15 years in drafting, design and plan preparation.
• Experience can be satisfied by Full-Time or prorated Part -Time experience on a year per year basis.
• Communicate effectively.
• Advanced and specialized design/drafting procedures.
• Computer-aided drafting and design systems.
• Design and plan preparation methods and requirements.
• Exercises logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; makes decisions that support business objectives and goals.
• Applying engineering principles, practices and methods in job responsibilities
• Application of engineering fundamentals.
• Reading and interpreting applicable plans, schematics, blueprints and maps.
• The use of personal computers and applicable programs, applications and systems.
• Maintaining a safe working relationship.
• Travel required for this position is less than 20%

Conditions of Employment:

• Applicant will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record Check. Satisfactory driving records are required for driving company or personal vehicles and motor driven equipment to conduct company business.
