Job description

Duties Perform duties concerned with the physical protection of personnel, facilities, and assets against criminal, terrorist, or hostile activities for Corpus Christi Army Depot. Prepare physical security reports outlining deficient areas and recommends corrective actions. Perform duties concerning the physical protection of conventional arms, ammunition and explosives (AAE) against theft, sabotage, terrorism, loss or other criminal acts. Provide security input to all major MCA projects and Corps of Engineers with information to effect appropriate change orders to update facilities to meet new regulatory requirements. Develop and implement policies and procedures for the CCAD Security Program. Ensure completion of comprehensive installation-wide Physical Security Awareness Training and conduct inspections of facilities to include physical security inspections to reduce vulnerability to the intelligence threat. Physical Security Specialist, Will use U.S. Army Security Management System (CounterMeasures) SMS(CM) per AR 190-13, paragraph 2-13, to conduct PS inspections, surveys, for planning and programming. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret, Tier 5 security clearance or access for the duration of employment. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) business or travel requirements of 25% of the time. This position requires a valid State of Texas Driver License. This position requires the core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment. This position is covered by the civilian drug abuse testing program, subject must pass a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter. Vulnerabilities Assessment and Management Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Conducting physical security inspections or functions; 2) Reviewing inspection reports; 3) Implementing policies and guidelines regarding a physical security program; 4) Preparing detailed, formal and informal briefings to personnel regarding physical security. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09) OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position. (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts for verification). OR A combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
