Job Title: Electrical Engineering Manager/Lead Electrical Engineer (Electrical systems)
Work Location: Dallas - Hybrid schedule
Duration: Full-time Managerial Position
Education/Experience Required: 12+ years of experience in Electrical Engineering and developing operational and maintenance plans for industrial electrical systems, preferably in renewable energy.

This position reports to the Director of Engineering and is responsible for managing the Solar and Battery Storage Operations Engineering function, including all aspects of solar and storage reliability and performance for the fleet. The scope of this position includes developing maintenance and performance management programs for the expanding solar and storage fleet, provide technical guidance to the operating solar and storage projects, delivering cost saving and production improvement projects and support the transition of new projects into operations. The position requires the ability to communicate and manage resources effectively as well as deliver complex and time sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment. This manager position will initially have one direct report and the manager will act as an individual contributor utilizing contractors as necessary but will be responsible for growing the team as the solar and storage portfolio grows.

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Develops programs to manage solar & battery storage plant productivity including: reliability, condition monitoring, performance improvement, operation and maintenance
  • Supports the turnover and commissioning of newly constructed plants
  • Delivers inputs for annual operating budgets for solar and storage related projects
  • Evaluates and performs analysis on solar & storage equipment health data
  • Assesses failure rates and expected lifetime for solar & storage components
  • Performs root cause analysis and/or validates contractor root cause analysis
  • Manages storage augmentation plans and implementation of site specific augmentation.
  • Develops models for solar & storage plant operational costs
  • Develops business cases for plant improvements and retrofits
  • Develop and manage staff on the solar and storage team when additional positions are approved
  • Maintain and ensure work quality of the solar and storage team
  • Delegates and prioritizes projects and tasks for the solar and storage team

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 4-Year Bachelor Engineering Degree
  • 10 or more years of relevant technical experience working with electrical systems
  • Fundamental understanding of solar and battery storage systems design and operation
  • Experience with the maintenance and repair of solar and battery storage systems
  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams and other common specifications in the electrical power industry
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to clearly communicate ideas to non-technical staff
  • Ability to manage a team of engineers and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and manage technical projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage priorities in a complex and dynamic environment
