SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Foam Supervisor or Lead, The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Gerber Cutting machine, Horizontal, Vertical and Standard Giber cutting machines. The Operator ensures sufficient production levels are met by maintaining efficient operation of their assigned machine

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs typical machine shop and material-cutting operations to support the production floor.
  • Enter commands in the computer control console to retrieve preprogrammed cutting instructions and start the machine.
  • Detect and report defective materials or questionable machine and or production conditions to the department supervisor or lead.
  • Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
  • Follows prescribed safety regulations for use of P.P.E.
  • Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on machines as required per the P.M. charts.
  • Must be familiar with the basic machine functions to perform the tasks stated above.
  • Must be willing to accept and receive frequent supervision and assistance concerning machine set-up.
  • Flexibility to work in any area production area as needed from time to time

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Experience as a machine operator or
  • Minimum of 1 year of factory-related experience.
  • Basic familiarity with operating a computer
  • Must be knowledgeable in cutting methods and be able to complete the job to quality specifications.
  • Flexibility to work a changing work schedule according to production demands
  • Ability to work collaboratively with among departments
