Job description
Overview:
Under the direction of the General Manager / Director of Operations, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the maintenance within the assigned facility or facilities.
Responsibilities:
Ensures the safe, clean and efficient work environment which includes, but not limited to, Shop areas, operational areas and grounds.
Assists in developing a program to train and motivate personnel for increased effectiveness.
Ability to hire qualified employees to meet the facility's needs.
Conduct analysis of workload as compared to maintenance manpower and equipment; matches the skill and background of personnel to work required.
Establishes the maintenance workforce schedule according to business needs.
Supervises and audits the work of employees who repair and maintain buildings/facilities.
Partner with Operations to develop efficient preventative maintenance schedule.
May be involved in new construction or modification of existing properties.
Conducts regular meetings with employees to review important messages and safety issues.
Coordinate all alarm-monitoring systems and review sprinkler system testing.
Execute safety and sanitation schedules that ensure the facility's compliance with Corporate, OSHA, FDA, AIB or ASI standards.
Conduct warehouse inspections in absence of/or with General Managers.
Act as point of contact for all fire, safety and sanitation inspections.
Develop local vendor contacts to supply facility.
May help assist in ensuring that all licensing and permits are in place as required by state and local law.
May assist in the annual review of vendor contracts, determining and recommending price / service changes to Operations.
Involved with budget review process and responsible for expense tracking.
Develop and implement an appropriate performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases and termination.
Maintains a professional and courteous relationship with customers and service providers. Ensure that all personnel do the same
Performs other duties as requested by facility leadership.
Qualifications:
May be required to meet certain certifications in field.
Requires at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
At least 1 year of supervisory experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
Computer applications using MS office and Excel.
Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, HAZMAT, FDA regulations and the willingness to become certified in one or more of these areas as necessary.
Excellent supervisory skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Bilingual English/Spanish required (in some locations).
Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and potentially holidays as needed by the customer
Must be able to stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours.
Lift and move totes up to 50 pounds.
Regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.
Walking in the warehouse and around area with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
Should be able to work in environments with variable noise levels, lighting conditions and temperature variation and able to access all areas of building without limitations.
