Summary:

This position oversees the day-to-day operation of the Manufacturing and Packaging Departments while ensuring Safety, cGMP, production efficiencies are optimized to meet scheduling demands. Person is critical to help design and execute on the strategic direction of the organization. The individual is the senior leader for the production team

Responsibilities

Ensures that supervisors and hourly team members are achieving goals (Safety, Quality, Production, Financial / Budgetary, Efficiencies) and that teams build and maintain a safe, effective work environment. Will help coordinate activities between other departments (Planning/Scheduling, Quality, Logistics, Sanitation, Administration) and assist in developing team members to meet their own departmental goals.

Takes on both 'hands on' and strategic approach. Time will be split between supporting the production floor and executing strategic initiatives. Broad technical knowledge of equipment is required so they can recognize, correct and develop corrective actions both immediately and systematically.

May provide backup support for the administration of the department staff including scheduling, employee timesheets, performance reviews, disciplinary reviews and other activities related to employee maintenance.

Required to set and achieve production, safety, quality and budgetary goals in line with the Company's guidelines and work closely with other departments to meet productivity targets

Reports to a senior member of management and is expected to work with limited supervision. Directly supervises all production supervisors and may also supervisor some support team members. This can include, but not limited to indirectly supervise some employees who come in contact with the department including QA/QC personnel, Company drivers and Receiving Department employees, in the absence of other available supervision

Resource Allocation - includes management of people, schedules & machines to optimize the operation and meet the demands of cGMP, Safety, Maintenance and PTO. Supports order fulfilment (OTIF) while maximizing labor and machine efficiencies.

Technical Ability - includes ability to understand the technology of their department's equipment, processes and SOPs. This involves both theoretical understanding and practical experience. This can include but not limited to equipment in manufacturing, packaging and engineering. Software applications such as SAP are relevant.

Process Improvement - knowledge and execution of continuous improvement skills not limited to Lean, TOC, Six-Sigma, 5S, HACCP and Advanced problem-solving techniques,

Quality - knowledge, practice and execution of cGMP and GDP skills,

Safety - understands, leads and executes safety concepts. Includes ongoing education, skills refinement and execution of safety related activities

Qualifications:
Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role in a production environment.

Post-Secondary education is not required, but strongly desired.

Requires strong mathematical skills and excellent writing skills (SOP's, Presentations, Flow Charting, Report creation, etc.).

Language requirements: Must read, write and speak English. Bi-lingual (Spanish) not required, but a strong plus.

Professional computer and data entry skills and familiarity with standard business-related software (MSWord, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint and MS Visio).

Ability to learn and use SAP Frequent email communication and report-writing is a must.

Experience with Continuous Improvement techniques is required which can include Kaizen, 5S, Lean, TOC or other tools.
