Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopaedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for a Tissue Technician to join our team.

Job Overview:
The Tissue Technician works as part of a team to provide medically suitable tissue. In this position, you'll do this by processing, storing and distributing skin and amnion (human tissue) for medical use. You'll ensure that our patients in the Operating Room have adequate tissue for their surgical needs by disenfecting, culturing and processing donated tissue into grafts. Must be able to work a rotating on-call schedule to include after-hours, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities:
Reviews donor charts for donor eligibility and technical conformance

Creates and maintains a sterile field, packages processed tissue according to size, cleans equipment properly, and documents information in the donor chart

Maintains accurate and complete records, maintains proper tissue temperature, and ensures proper shipping labels are attached to shipping containers.

Performs on call by screening donors from procurement agencies, and is available to take tissue orders to requesting hospitals.

Organizes and initiates the monthly bioburden monitoring and ensures that it is performed according to policy and procedures.

Monitors equipment to ensure temperature of all refrigerators and freezers.

Qualifications:
Education

Associates degree preferred, with courses in Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology are preferred.

Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) is preferred.

Skills

Time management, critical thinking, able to work independently, able to carry out instructions, self-motivated, detail oriented, positive attitude, and organized.

Previous tissue bank experience is preferred.
