Job Description: The Sr Specialist, Systems Engineer position is part of a team that supports the requirements, design, development, test, and integration of complex, specialized hardware/software systems installed on ground and airborne communications platforms. Essential Functions: Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains
Review and evaluate electrical wiring diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements
Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning
Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements
Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements
Perform requirement traceability
Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness
Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements
Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs
Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of related experience
OR Master's Degree and a minimum of 4 years of related experience
OR in lieu of a degree a minimum of 10 years of related experience
Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains
Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning
Be able to write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements
Understand requirement traceability
Be able to prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals
Ability to pass FAA Class III Flight Physical
Active Secret DoD Security Clearance or higher
Preferred Additional Skills: Hands-on experience with testing, integrating, and verifying software and/or hardware
Aircraft communication system integration and communications ground/flight test support
Security+ Professional Certification
RF distribution systems including RF down-converting, up-converting, transceivers, non-blocking switching, and electrically phase matched distribution architectures
Agile experience
Troubleshooting and multi-level testing for RF applications
Knowledge of requirement traceability methods and purpose
Knowledge of the systems engineering trade study process
Experience writing subsystem specifications based on system level requirements
Experience conducting verification testing
Excellent written, oral, and presentation communications skills
Experience working with subcontractors and US Government customers
Experience developing, authoring, and implementing system test plans
Willingness to travel
