Job description

Petroplan is recruiting for a Drilling & Completions Advisor to work for an International oil and gas operating company based in Houston, TX. This individual will play a vital role in supporting well planning and daily operations within the team, assisting engineering teams in designing safe, cost-effective well plans. Key responsibilities include conducting risk assessments, peer reviews, and generating detailed plans and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert support to Global Drilling, Completions, and Interventions projects.
  • Assist teams with peer reviews, post-well evaluations, and field studies to enhance performance.
  • Act as a Technical SME and ensure adherence to Global D&C standards.
  • Prepare time and cost estimates for budgets, long-range planning, AFE's, and decision analysis.
  • Conduct risk assessments for operations, new rigs, and deviations from standard practices.
  • Lead and support peer reviews, HAZOPS, DWOPS, CWOPS, and risk assessments.
  • Work with Procurement and Contract Teams to develop and evaluate bid packages.
  • Apply best practices and lessons learned to all operations.
  • Conduct after-action reviews to improve operational and cost efficiency.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving for challenging wells.
  • Lead special projects and mentor junior engineers.
  • Champion safety and quality performance.
  • Represent the company in non-operational projects.
  • Lead quarterly reviews with service providers.
  • Conduct peer benchmarking and review industry trends.
  • Prepare scopes of work for procurement of DCI services.

Skills and Experience
  • A minimum of 20 years engineering experience in the oil and gas industry.
  • Expertise across multiple types of Drilling & Completions activities in deepwater, shallow water, conventional/unconventional onshore, etc.
  • Be able to lead through influence and mentor junior engineers.
  • Unrelenting commitment to health, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
