Industrial Buyer/Purchaser Job Summary

We are seeking an Industrial Buyer/Purchaser to be responsible for managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for our offshore and marine operations. This role involves working closely with vendors, internal teams, and project managers to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.

Industrial Buyer/Purchaser Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and vendors to meet the company's requirements for materials, equipment, and services.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to achieve favorable conditions for the company.
  • Develop and maintain a network of reliable suppliers to ensure a consistent and efficient supply chain.
  • Place purchase orders for required materials and services, ensuring accurate specifications and timely delivery.
  • Monitor order status, track shipments, and resolve any issues or delays with suppliers.
  • Analyze and compare supplier quotes to determine the best value for the company.
  • Monitor and manage procurement budgets, ensuring that spending aligns with financial targets and project budgets.
  • Implement cost-saving strategies and process improvements to enhance procurement efficiency.
  • Ensure that all procurement activities adhere to company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct supplier assessments and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and contractual obligations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of purchase orders, contracts, and supplier communications.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on procurement activities, including cost analyses, supplier performance, and inventory levels.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and provide timely solutions.

Industrial Buyer/Purchaser Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred
  • Must be familiar with procurement of raw steel, rigging, wire ropes, coatings, etc.
