Job description

We are seeking a skilled Lead HVAC Technician to join our facilities maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities:

Inspect, repair, and install HVAC equipment including compressors, condensers, chillers, and cooling towers

Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and make necessary adjustments

Replace defective parts in units and their controls

Install, rebuild, or repair fans, motors, thermostats, and other components

Operate hand and power tools, welding equipment, and test instruments

Perform skilled electrical maintenance work on HVAC components and wiring systems

Calibrate systems and perform preventive maintenance

Adhere to health and safety regulations

Maintain equipment in safe working condition

Follow applicable building codes and regulations

Maintain records of time, labor, and materials used

Prepare reports as required

Qualifications:

Minimum requirements:

4+ years of documentable HVAC journeyman level experience, including HVAC and refrigeration system theory and practices

Familiarity with applicable building codes and regulations

Preferred requirements:

Ability to read and follow technical instructions

Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills

Post-secondary education in HVAC technology

Experience with building automation systems

Knowledge of energy efficiency practices in HVAC systems

Certification in refrigerant handling

Experience with commercial and industrial HVAC systems
