Job description
At Houston Methodist, the Lead Supply Chain Tech position serves as a resource/expert for providing services relating to the Supply Chain department. In addition to performing as a Supply Chain Technician, this position may provide the first level of leadership support to team members. The Lead Supply Chain Tech position provides guidance and support with supply orders, equipment, or services routinely performed by the department where time and critical needs are required to meet clinical needs. Duties for this position are varied and may include many of the following: organize work review time cards for accuracy, conduct quality assurance audits, develop and implement quality improvement activities, train and mentor staff, provide input on staff performance and development needs, lead and regularly perform special projects, collect/analyze/report on data, prepare reports on performance and metrics, and other responsibilities of a similar nature and level.
PEOPLE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Independently and expertly serves as the department primary resource for staff ensuring optimal department services and outcomes. Collaborates with management by actively communicating and reporting pertinent information and data in a comprehensive manner.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Organizes the work flow, pro-actively problem-solves, anticipates needs, manages multiple ongoing priorities with minimal supervision.
Serves as the initial point of contact for customer concerns escalating issues when appropriate. Provides reports to management of requests, issues to be addressed, and all important information necessary to ensure department success.
Anticipates and coordinates durable/portable equipment needs, i.e. crash cart, suction equipment, etc., by ensuring equipment, not routinely available within the customer's department, are obtained and distributed timely.
Ensure clinical supply and equipment areas are clean and organized. Thoroughly captures accurate information and applies comprehensive knowledge of supplies and equipment to meet requestor's needs.
QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Conducts quality audits on equipment, processes, outcomes and documents, develops and evaluates processes and procedures. Responsible for trouble-shooting concerns in the inventory management systems, including but not limited to PAR Excellence Scale Errors or locating deliveries based on flow through the systems, as appropriate. Monitors the hospital inventory systems and MARS, customer needs to ensure product availability for caregivers.
Assists with implementation and education of department-based safety initiatives, standards of practice and protocols. Develops skills of team members and continually assists with improving skills, performance and outcomes.
FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for input and overseeing of all Supply Chain transactions, ensuring they are completed accurately within the appropriate tracking systems and within the established guidelines of the department.
Performs timely and accurate daily charge reconciliation process, as part of inventory management, and communicates variances and offers problem resolutions to management.
Uses resources efficiently; does not waste supplies. Self-motivated to independently manage time effectively and prioritize daily tasks and provides leadership to team members on effective and efficient utilization of time, minimizing incidental overtime. If assigned, accurately reviews and edits team members' time cards for management approval.
GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSIdentifies and implements innovative solutions, ideas and suggestions that improve quality or services. Participates in committees and task forces as assigned, ensuring that critical objectives are clearly explained and action items are appropriately performed. Follows up on action items as necessary to ensure completion of assignments. Assists with special projects and initiatives as assigned.

EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent education (examples include: GED, verification of homeschool equivalency, partial or full completion of post-secondary education, etc.)

WORK EXPERIENCE
Three years of previous experience in a customer service role or Healthcare, Supply Chain or Materials Management

Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment and process requirements for Sterile Supply helpful
