JOB SUMMARY

The Engineer, Maintenance II under the general supervision of the Lead Maintenance Engineer, administers an ongoing maintenance program for the Vehicle Processing Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Maintain air conditioning and heating equipment, perform electrical, plumbing, painting and light construction as needed for GST and affiliated companies.
  • Assist Facilities Coordinator in identifying problem areas and maintaining the preventative maintenance program for all locations.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and perform moderately complex maintenance.
  • Handle "special" projects as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

A High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus five to nine years' experience.

CORE COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledgeable with the operation of HVAC equipment, Generators, Pumps, Compressors and electrical systems.
  • Proficient in Building Automation Systems.
  • Proficient with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Proficient with HVAC direct digital control (DDC) systems.
  • Proficient in trouble shooting electrical (including 3 phase systems), HVAC, pneumatic and plumbing systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft software programs - Word/Outlook.
  • Familiar with Life Safety systems and associated inspections required by NFPA codes.
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures and must be observant to recognize danger or potential dangerous situation and be able to implement corrective action based on this observation.
  • Able to read, understand and implement the correct PPE required by MSDS sheets for all chemicals associated with the Vehicle Processing Center (VPC).
  • Ability to read and understand operating and maintenance instruction and procedure manuals.
  • Applicant must be able to read and understand mechanical, electrical and plumbing drawings.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to fellow associates and management any problems or challenges that may arise during a work day.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

A State of Texas Apprentice Maintenance Electrician License or a City of Houston Third Grade Stationary Engineer license is preferred.

The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential responsibilities of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather condition extremes during summer and winter months. The noise level in the work environment varies from quiet to loud.
