Huntsman is seeking a Production Manager supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in Houston Port, Texas.

Job Scope

The Production Manager has overall responsibility for the production of quality material in a safe, efficient, and cost-effective manner. This includes all aspects of personnel safety, process safety, environmental compliance, personnel development, production quality and quantity, and shipping logistics requirements for the production units. The Production Manager also serves as a technical liaison to the corporate commercial and technical teams to evaluate new product development versus plant capabilities.

In summary, as the Production Manager, you will:

• Responsible to the Plant Manager for the leadership of the Operations department, including administration, planning, coordination, and identifying key initiatives.
• Takes ownership of plant administrative practices and procedures.
• Leads the day-to-day activities in the plant through influence and direction of the Operations team and works with the site management team as needed to address issues.
• Administers plant personnel policies, evaluates team performance, and makes recommendations to Plant Manager on hiring, promotions, salaries, and release of people under his/her direction.
• Takes ownership of plant operations leading all personnel in EHS excellence to achieve exceptional Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) performance.
• Directly responsible for the Operations department conducting business in a safe and environmentally compliant manner and extending such protection to the neighboring community. Able to represent the Plant Manager when he is not on site.
• Participates in budget development activities, reviews costs and expenses, and strives for profitable performance of the operating units.
• Identifies and participates in implementing process improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
• Oversees the developmental needs of the Operations department.
• Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
• Essential functions require presence in the workplace on a regular basis and an ability to work extra hours if needed.
• Work collaboratively with team members and other site departments with different backgrounds and perspectives.
• Assists other employees in accomplishing Huntsman company goals. Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree in Chemical, Mechanical or petroleum Engineering, or chemistry, biochemistry, process engineering.
• 3+ years of experience with engineering principles governing petrochemical or chemical operations
• 3+ years of experience with technical proficiency in chemistry and engineering principles.
• 8+ years of related experience in chemical plant operations.

Skills and knowledge

• Must have a level of proficiency with Internet, Email, and Microsoft programs.
• Must have high technical and analytical abilities to handle operational problems and plant compliance concerns with quick diagnosis and prompt decisions.
• Must have the ability to motivate and influence others.
• Good communication and diplomacy skills
• Effective leadership, coordination, and communication skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required when interacting with all levels of the site organization, corporate organization, and customers.

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership role experience.
• Process Engineering experience.
• SAP experience.
