Property Accountant Responsibilities:

• Financial Management:
• Collaborate with the Property Manager/Project Manager to ensure the accuracy of journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
• Perform cash management functions, including monitoring and recording cash transactions, and reconciling bank accounts.
• Prepare standard reference requests for new ACH/wire relationships.
• Accounts Receivable:
• Manage and coordinate the accounts receivable process in conjunction with Property Management.
• Conduct A/R analysis and collection efforts, including aging reviews and tenant correspondence regarding balances.
• Accounts Payable:
• Oversee accounts payable functions, including issuing checks, setting up wire/ACH payments, maintaining vendor files, and assisting with vendor inquiries.
• Lease Administration:
• Coordinate and prepare lease administration tasks, including setting up new leases in the accounting system, preparing tenant billings, and setting up tenant recovery profiles/pools.
• Prepare operating and tax expense reconciliations (true-ups) as required by governing documents such as leases and management agreements.
• General Ledger & Compliance:
• Record journal entries to the general ledger and ensure compliance with GAAP or other accounting standards.
• Review journal entries prepared by the Staff Accountant (if applicable) to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Property Accountant Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• 1-2 years of experience in property accounting, preferably within the commercial real estate industry
• Or - 1 year public accounting experience
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with general ledger functions.
• Proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.

Property Accountant Qualifications:

• Experience with lease administration and tenant recovery.
• Familiarity with commercial real estate accounting systems and practices.
• CPA or other relevant certifications.
