Position Summary:
The Sterile Prep Technician at Empower Pharmacy plays a crucial role in maintaining the integrity and safety of our sterile compounding operations, directly contributing to our values of people, service, quality, and innovation. In this role, you will operate in a Current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) cleanroom environment classified under International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards ISO 7 and ISO 8. You will be responsible for the meticulous cleaning, disinfecting, and sterilization of all materials, components, and chemical containers used in the manufacturing process. Your duties will also include operating an autoclave to sterilize components, documenting inventory, and ensuring that all materials are accurately accounted for as they are introduced into the classified areas. Additionally, you will perform rudimentary calculations, maintain thorough documentation, and prepare your work area methodically prior to manufacturing.
Beyond your core responsibilities, you will contribute to the overall efficiency and safety of the manufacturing process by supporting tasks such as organizing components, restocking devices, and participating in LEAN manufacturing initiatives like 6S, Gemba, and Kaizen. You will achieve "Gown Qualified" status within two attempts, allowing you to enter the cleanroom and participate fully in sterile operations. As a trained and qualified sterile technician, you will also play a role in coaching new hires, ensuring they meet the ambitious standards required for sterile compounding.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates equipment in a cGMP cleanroom environment, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 7, ISO 8, in compliance with expert batch records while adhering to department specific SOPs.
Maintains an ISO classified environment through rigorous cleaning and disinfecting of the cleanroom in accordance with approved procedures.
Utilizes an autoclave to perform sterilization of components used in the manufacturing process.
Cleans and disinfects all materials, components, and chemical containers utilized in the manufacturing operation.
Documents and keeps accurate inventory of all items wiped into the classified areas.
Performs rudimentary calculations and completes thorough documentation.
Methodically prepares work area and supplies prior to manufacturing.
Performs transfer of products from the cleanroom to the Inspection and Labeling team
Becomes trained and qualified in sterile operation via internal training program.
Performs ancillary tasks and duties that support the manufacturing process such as, but not limited to organization of components, restocking of devices, and various LEAN manufacturing tasks (6S, Gemba, Kaizen)
Ensures all required hygienic practices and garbing are performed per company policy.
Achieves "Gown Qualified" status within two attempts, allowing entry into the cleanroom.
Observes and aids in coaching new hires on sterile operations.
Provides overtime support, as needed, to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
Performs other duties and responsibilities within the department to ensure timely execution of the production schedule.

While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. May be required to lift up to 25-50lbs.
Knowledge and Skills:
Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
Work in a confined, controlled environment for extended periods of time (4 plus hours).
Must be able to work with hazardous substances (drugs) and work with strong odors (such as, but not limited to, peracetic acid).
Communicate and collaborate effectively with a team to achieve goals around safety, quality, and delivery.
Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
Must be able to perform rudimentary mathematical calculations.

Experience and Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience with operation of equipment and/or tools preferred.
