Job description
Overview Aegis Aerospace is currently looking for a Structural Analysis Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. Overview: The purpose of this position is to build structural models, execute analysis, interpret results, and develop structural analysis reports in support of the DOD Human-rated space Task Order (DHSTO) contract. This position will support projects for the DOD Space Test Program (STP) - Houston office on-site at Johnson Space Center (JSC). The structural analysts support STP missions by supporting overall payload design, development, testing, and verification of payload hardware throughout the lifecycle process. This role supports multiple projects as required and coordinates with other engineers, management, NASA counterparts, and DOD customers to accomplish project goals. Applicants will be responsible for contributing to development and execution of structural analysis models for stress analysis, random vibration, modal analysis, and bolted joint analysis. This role will also contribute to design review products, verification products, review of analysis results, and communicating results effectively to all stakeholders. Did you know? Responsibilities Development of structural analysis models in accordance with program processes Creation of analysis reports and submission of verification artifacts Work with project teams to review structural analysis results from internal and external teams Provide support for vibration testing including test configuration, setup, execution, and post-test analysis. Provide reduced models for inclusion in launch vehicle assessments Provide mentoring to structural and mechanical team regarding structural analysis Support project design reviews (Kickoff, PDR, CDR, MRR) Participate in regular team meetings to provide status and coordinate with teammates Qualifications REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline with 5-10 years' experience in structural analysis. Experience with structural analysis and model development using NASTRAN & PATRAN software. Experience with NASA and/or DOD standards for structural analysis Must have US Citizenship. Must have current Top Secret security clearance, or be eligible for a Single Scope Background Investigation. Experience with stress analysis Experience with modal analysis Experience with random vibration analysis Experience with bolted joint analysis Experience with Craig Bampton reduce models Experienced technical problem solver. Experience with interpersonal skills in a teaming environment where collaboration and communication are critical to the functioning of the team. Motivated self-starter willing to take initiative. Ability to occasionally travel. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with project managers, project leads, customers, and with contract colleagues is essential. Ability to attain and maintain respect and confidence of the customer and contract personnel. A close, cooperative customer interface is essential. Mature, professional judgment in establishing objectives, milestones and priorities. Reliable and dependable work habits and dedication to get the job done. Experience with acoustics analysis Scripting knowledge for structural analysis execution/modeling Experience working with SolidWorks modeling software Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
