About this Role:
Barehand Certified Working Foreman - Multiple Openings - Houston, TX
High voltage outdoor work. Provides leadership and oversight of assigned projects and crews
in the operation and maintenance function of high voltage electrical substation, distribution
and transmission lines, facilities, and equipment in both energized and de-energized
conditions. Requires knowledge of construction planning, execution and work methods for
completing construction and maintenance projects within scope, budget, and schedule.
What You'll Do:
Responsible for the day-to-day operations of crews including but not limited to:
Remove and/or install power poles, towers, and other support structures; work on high voltage
energized conductors using rubber glove, hot stick techniques and /or barehand methods.
May drive and operate digger derricks, bucket trucks, wire pullers and other associated line
equipment.
Works with rubber goods and hot sticks on energized lines.
Works as a member of the crew to assure work assignments are completed in a safe and
cost-effective manner.
Develops work schedules and work plans to ensure compliance with
safety and construction standards.
Works with crew to prioritize, coordinate, and accomplish work with maximum safety.
Teaches and mentors Apprentice Linemen.
Identifies, secures, and/or coordinates material, personnel, and equipment
needed for completion of required task.
Acts as a liaison with the customer to meet quality standards for services.
Proactively manage and review crews to ensure customer quality and safety requirements.
Monitor and report to management progress and performance.
Work in various unanticipated locations, outdoors in all weather conditions, including inclement weather.
Work to be performed at various unanticipated project locations across the US.
What You'll Bring:
Four (4) years related experience as a powerline technician or lineman
Must be certified in climbing steel and wood structures.
Able to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE.
Work in various unanticipated locations, outdoors in all weather conditions, including inclement weather.
Work to be performed at various unanticipated project locations across the US.
Move/lift at least 50 lbs. Compliance with safety regulations.
Ability to supervise subordinate line workers.
Pass pre-employment and other drug screening requirements.
Must be Barehand Certified (69-kV to 345-kV - Transmission and 2400-
kV to 34.5-kV Distribution Voltage), foreign equivalent accepted.
Must have or be able to acquire Journeyman Lineman certification within a reasonable amount of time from a duly
constituted Outside Local Union of the IBEW or any Outside Joint Apprenticeship and
Training Committee.
Over 80% domestic travel required (little notice). Work to be performed
at various unanticipated project locations across the US.
