Job description

Duties Provides direct support to unit and other military and civilian aircrews, during scheduled and unscheduled flying and ground activities. Provides aircrews with information and assistance, necessary for planning and conducting safe flight operations. Processes flight plans, conducting necessary research and/or queries in the coordination of scheduled flights. Monitors radio navigational aids, maintains flight plan information for all aircraft movement, consisting of inbound, outbound, and local flights. Assists the Airfield Manager, Airfield Operations Manager or designated representative in the research and evaluation of airfield data. Participates in the scheduling of airfield activities with tenant and transient aviation units requiring use of the airfield. Provides Flight line Drivers Training to Soldiers, DA Civilians and Contractors as required. Performs daily airfield inspections/checks for conditions, physical security, and force protection to ensure a safe airfield environment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Flight-line Driver's License per AR 95-2. This position has been identified as being mission essential required to report for duty during inclement weather, natural disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Senior Leadership. Must maintain a functioning telephone to aid in contact during recall/emergency situations. This position requires irregular hours of work, and rotating shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays with high periods of stress. Subject to changes in shift assignments following regulated notice periods. Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10% of the time. Must be able to pass pre-employment and periodic medical examinations. Gathering information to brief aircrew regarding airport/airfield area ground and airspace issues; AND 2.) Conducting routine Airfield/Airport Inspections for safety, security, and operational functionality, AND 3.) Coordinating, and de-conflicting the movement of aircraft and/or ground equipment through the use of electronic and radio equipment. OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: accounting, business administration, business or commercial law, commerce, economics, engineering, finance, industrial management, statistics, traffic management, transportation, motor mechanics, nautical science, marine affairs, marine engineering, marine transportation, or other fields related to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
