Job description
Civil Investigator This position requires an active Public Trust clearance or the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance to be considered. A Civil Investigator is responsible for conducting investigations related to civil cases and matters. They gather evidence, interview witnesses, and collect relevant documents and records to support legal proceedings. Civil Investigators work closely with attorneys, clients, and law enforcement agencies to uncover facts, identify potential witnesses, and analyze information. They may also participate in site visits and inspections to assess property conditions and document any relevant findings. Additionally, Civil Investigators may be involved in preparing detailed reports, testifying in court, and providing expert opinions based on their investigative findings. Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for Civil Investigator: $100,000 - $106,000. Pay commensurate with experience. Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice. Civil Investigator Responsibilities Include: Provides professional investigations to clarity/verify facts. Review correspondence and guidance for the Border Fence Project. Be able to understand the Right's of entry for government condemnation matters. Effectively communicate with landowners both verbally and in written format. Prepare individual Border Fence Project files. Prepare correspondence for assigned Border Fence Project actions. Makes assessment and provide written reports/analysis of information. Perform any task pertaining to the Border Fence Project program. Serves as an English/Spanish interpreter/translator. Travels in support of investigation. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Civil Investigator Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: Fifteen years law enforcement experience (preferred federal law experience). Experience in condemnation and working on complex investigations preferred. Foreign language skills are required (English-Spanish). Significant experience in testifying in court Must have above average written and oral communication skills Individual(s) selected will be subject to a Department of Justice background investigation. Candidate must be able to successfully pass a Minimum Background Investigation prior to starting work on site and receive favorable adjudication of the appropriate Department of Justice background investigation consistent with a position sensitivity level 6, which requires the completion of an SF 85P/S, Questionnaire/s for Public Trust Position. Training and experience in federal law enforcement and/or federal investigation fields can be substituted for education. Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
